Privacy policy
Next Rust Wipe keeps as little as it can about you. There are no accounts and no ads, and Google Analytics only runs if you allow it.

Who runs this site
Next Rust Wipe is a fan site run by one person. It isn't affiliated with Facepunch Studios. For anything about this policy or your data, email contact@nextrustwipe.com.
Reading the site
You can read every page without giving anything. Unless you allow analytics, the site sets no cookies while you read, shows no ads, and loads nothing from other companies: the fonts are served from this site too.
Like any website, the server that hosts it sees your IP address and the page you asked for. This site doesn't write that down. The hosting provider may keep its own short-lived technical logs to run and protect its network.
Analytics
If you press Allow on the cookie bar, the site uses Google Analytics to count visits: which pages are read, how people found the site, and roughly where they are and what device they use. If you press No thanks, or ignore the bar, Google Analytics never loads.
Google Analytics sets cookies named _ga and _ga_ plus a code, which last up to two years and let it tell new visitors from returning ones. Google processes the data for this site and may do so outside the UK and EU. It doesn't log or store IP addresses. Google signals and ad personalisation are switched off, so none of it is used for ads, and the detailed data is kept for 2 months.
You can change your mind at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. Choosing No thanks removes the cookies. How Google uses this data.
Voting
Voting is optional. When you cast your first vote, the site sets one cookie, nrw_voter. It holds a random code, nothing else, so the site can let you change your vote and stop the same browser voting twice. It can't be read by scripts on the page, it isn't used for anything else, and it lasts a year. Because it's only set when you ask to vote, it counts as strictly necessary, so the site doesn't ask first.
With that code the site stores which way you voted on each change, for the current wipe cycle only. When the wipe happens, the codes are dropped and only the totals are kept.
Your votes appear in the public "Latest votes" strip without a name. Only your own browser marks them as yours.
To stop abuse, the site counts requests per IP address in its memory for up to a day (for example, no more than 60 votes from one connection in 10 minutes). These counts are never written to disk.
You can take any vote back at any time by pressing your choice again on the vote page. Deleting the cookie in your browser removes the link between you and your votes.
In your browser
On the home page, the countdown keeps one small note in your browser's session storage so the page reloads only once when a wipe happens. It's deleted when you close the tab. Your answer on the cookie bar is kept in local storage so the site doesn't ask again.
Where the site's content comes from
The lists of changes come from Facepunch's public commit log, including the names developers post under there. Short summaries of those public commit messages are written with Anthropic's Claude. No information about visitors is sent to Anthropic or anyone else.
Changes
If the site starts keeping anything new about visitors, this page will say so before it does, with a new date at the top.
